SUMMARY:VALOR - Basic SWAT
DESCRIPTION:This 60 hour course trains officers on Basic Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT). Course provides officers the opportunity to learn basic tactical operations theory and develop a level of proficiency in common SWAT operations. The course provides participants with an overview of basic SWAT concepts and operations. \nCourse Learning Objectives \nBy the end of this course\, officers will be able to:\n-Explain the mission\, roles\, and structure of SWAT teams.\n-Identify the legal\, ethical\, and liability issues related to tactical operations.\n-Demonstrate team formations\, movements\, and room entry techniques.\n-Apply principles of tactical communication\, command\, and control during operations.\n-Execute tactical firearms handling\, including movement and cover techniques.\n-Demonstrate tactical medical self-aid/buddy-aid procedures during training scenarios.\n-Perform high-risk warrant service\, barricade containment under supervision.\n-Apply crisis decision-making and risk assessment models (OODA) during training scenarios.\n-Operate safely with less-lethal tools\, ballistic shields\, and breaching equipment.\n-Conduct mission planning\, operational briefing\, and after-action review as part of a tactical team. \nThis course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Basic SWAT Course #3301. \nEquipment required: assigned duty gear\, ballistic gear\, weapon systems\, light systems\, breaching tools\, battering rams\, ballistic shield\, gas mask\, 200 rounds handgun\, 200 rounds rifle\, eye & ear protection.
